Halal Fest Brings Food-filled Fun

Seventh Annual Culinary Celebration

The nation’s largest halal food festival, founded by Irfan Rydhan, returns to the Bay Area.

Seventh annual Halal Fest brings together chefs and vendors from Indian, Pakistani, Middle Eastern, Arab, Mediterranean, African and American cuisines.

The festival attracts almost 8,000 people and features an array of cuisines and vendors that sell everything from brisket to chaat to gyros to tacos.

Some of the most popular halal foods include falafel and gyro plates, but the festival includes many different types of cuisines - from traditional American burgers to Desi food.

Halal means “permissible” and refers to food that is prepared according to Islamic dietary guidelines.

“The Halal Fest was absolutely awesome! The food was good and only a couple of stalls had very long lines. The children loved the rides!” says foodie Shirin Maskatia.

Food is at the center of bringing people together.

Halal Fest is about embracing a rich tradition and showcasing the diversity of the culture to the rest of the world.
